What to do in Malaga?

Beaches

Malaga has some of the best beaches in Andalusia.

In the capital we can find:

  • Baths of Carmen
  • La Misericordia
  • Pedregalejo
  • El Palo
  • El Peñon del Cuervo

About 40 minutes by car we have the beaches of Nerja, also highly recommended!

  • Calahonda

Gastronomy

If we can boast about something in Andalusia, it's good food and our tapas!

In addition, Malaga prides itself on its espetos de sardinas and porra antequerana, important to try both!

For us the best places to eat are:

  • Casa Lola (tapas)
  • El Pimpi (tapas, restaurant and gastrobar)
  • El Mesón de Cervantes (tapas, restaurant)
  • Tapeo de Cervantes (tapas)
  • La Tranca (tapas)
  • Las Merchanas 1 and 2 (tapas)
  • La Recova (breakfast)

Places to visit

Founded by the Phoenicians in the eighth century BC, and located on the shores of the Mediterranean, Malaga has a great cultural and architectural heritage concentrated in its historic center.

These are some of the must-see sights:

  • Roman Theater.
  • Alcazaba.
  • Gibralfaro (castle and viewpoint).
  • Malaga Cathedral (La Manquita).
  • Larios Street and Constitution Square.
  • Plaza de la Merced.
  • Atarazanas Market.
  • Pier 1 and 2.

Museums

Malaga is popularly known as the city of museums.
What is the reason?
We are talking about the city with more museums per square meter of all Europe, and it has nothing more and nothing less than 40.
Some of the most appreciated are:
  • Picasso
  • Carmen Thyssen
  • Pompidou Center
  • Contemporary Art Center (CAC).
  • Municipal Heritage Museum.
The last two are free, the rest are free every Sunday!
